Trivial
Recently I was reminded that the mindset I had toward some issues I was dealing with was completely wrong. I was struggling with some things and it was causing some anxiety when a friend of mind asked if I had taken those concerns to the Lord. I was kind of shocked and responded that those things were too trivial to bother God with! When I said it, I knew it sounded absurd.
I think I fall into this trap often and I wonder if others do as well. I don't know if it stems from me wanting to be self-sufficient or just assuming God has better things to do than attend to the "small" issues I have.
1 Peter 5:7 tells us to "cast ALL our cares and anxieties on Him because He cares for us. God is concerned about our lives, and nothing is too big or SMALL for Him to address. The word "ALL" stands out because it is literally anything and everything that we have anxiety about. In Matthew 6:26 Jesus tells us to consider the birds of the air and how God provides for them, then He reminds us that we are more important than these.
God concerns himself with the provision of the birds, and I am down here being anxious over what seems like small details to me. How small is the provision of food for the birds on God's to-do list? I think if He is concerned about this detail, then He is certainty concerned about the things that make me anxious!
So, here is a reminder to not see God as too big or too busy to concern Himself with the small details of your life. God is concerned about you! He is concerned about whatever causes your heart to stress, become sad, angry, or afraid! He cares for you!
